On Tuesday, April 3rd, the Incubator welcomed Macy’s Vice President of Media Relations Julie Strider. Designer-In-Resident Shantae Flowers and Public Program designer Almira Wilson provided Ms. Strider, along with her team, a tour of the Incubator. The designers showcased their designs, and gained valuable information about the different platforms Macys offers for designers to sell their merchandise.
The experience gave designer Almira the opportunity to move closer to her dreams of selling her designs in a department store. When the designers showed their designs, both designers gained a sense that Ms. Strider and her team were impressed. Designer-In- Residence Shante Flowers felt pride in the Incubator program after the visit. This visit could lead to new opportunities for the Foundation as whole. As a designer, the visit reminded Almira of how valuable the Fashion Incubator program is.
