Designer | Travonne Walker

To say my inspiration derives from one particular idea would totally be false. The world I wake up to inspires me.
Travonne Walker, fashion designer and founder of the clothing brand Kenzie Carcell, insists that a person’s style is the most important aspect of their everyday life. With this she strives to create memorable fashions that are extremely wearable and speaks volumes for the customer.

Walker started her journey in 2009 as a college student looking to excel in the fine arts. She entered Bowie State University with a major in studio art where she was able to express herself through her own views of art. During her first semester at Bowie State, Travonne won second place for one of her pieces she named, “Organized Chaos.” She completed three years in this field but soon decided this was not what she wanted to do any longer. She later switched to Visual Communications & Digital Media Arts with a concentration in fashion design. This, by far, was one of the greatest decisions she has ever made. In the fall of 2013 she was invited to participate in her first community based fashion show. After this great experience she was ready for new opportunities which indeed came her way.

Walker starts every design process with a prayer and a pencil. Often times the sketches come before the fabric but she’s always just going with the flow of the creativity. In 2014 her creative way of designing won her the McCafe+HFR U student design competition. With this great achievement she was featured in the Huffington Post where they highlighted her accomplishments.

“Unique is a word used too often in this industry. What makes my product ME is the way fashion becomes a way to travel,” says Walker. Although she pulls inspiration from a lot of different things, her pieces have a type of vintage feel that pulls you back and forth through time. Walker continues to design daily as she gets ready to launch her new spring collection!
